Yankalilla Community Children’s Centre is an integrated site offering both Department for Education Preschool and community-run long day care, with a licensed capacity for 65 children. Situated approximately 75 kilometres south of Adelaide, the Centre lies along a picturesque corridor between the charming rural township of Yankalilla and the popular coastal destination of Normanville. The local region is characterised by rolling farmlands, native bushland, and scenic coastal vistas, offering a unique and vibrant natural environment. The broader community is shaped by its strong connection to the land and sea, with farming, hospitality, and service industries providing the main sources of local employment.

The Centre serves a wide and diverse district, including the tranquil valleys and hillsides of Inman Valley and Torrens Vale, the coastal beauty of Normanville and Rapid Bay, and the rural charm of towns such as Delamere, Hay Flat, Parawa, Second Valley, Cape Jervis, Wattle Flat, Myponga, Carrickalinga, and Wirrina Cove. The diversity of these communities contributes to a rich cultural tapestry and a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere within the Centre.

Parent and community involvement at the Centre is highly valued and actively encouraged by staff through the planning and provision of care and educational programs. Parents and the wider community also play a significant role in the governance of the Centre. The Governing Council/Management Committee comprises parent, community, and staff representatives who work collaboratively to develop the site’s future directions, monitor progress, and promote quality outcomes for children and families.
